Updated September 30, 2026. Every date, hour and price here comes from the farm's own website as it read on that day. Drive times from downtown Des Moines are our estimates.
If you want a pumpkin without a big day out, go to Iowa Orchard in Urbandale: about 15 minutes from downtown, no entry fee for the pumpkin patch, and pumpkins sold by the pound. If you want a whole afternoon of wagon rides, slides and a corn maze, Howell's in Cumming and Center Grove Orchard in Cambridge are the two biggest operations within 40 minutes. For apple picking, Iowa Orchard, Center Grove and Deal's Orchard all run u-pick.
For everything else happening this month, see the October 2026 events calendar.
